HubSpot is looking for an experienced research analyst and writer to contribute to The Hustle blog and our weekly newsletter for business builders.

This individual will be responsible for conducting original research on trending topics, business growth, and innovation and converting those findings into interesting narratives with actionable takeaways. The research process involves analyzing data from a variety of sources, including interviews with industry experts.

In this role, you’ll have an opportunity to explore your passion for strategy and innovation, while helping tens of thousands of thousands of entrepreneurs and operators grow better businesses.

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Write about emerging business trends and proven business strategies by gathering and interpreting data from a variety of sources
  • Develop premium content that will provide outsized value for an audience of builders and help us convert readers into leads for our business
  • Interview industry experts to develop actionable “how to” content for business builders and operators
  • Work closely with the blog editor and newsletter editor to ensure a high quality bar for your work
  • Contribute to the development of research and trendspotting methodologies to help us uncover the next big business ideas

We’re looking for people who have:

  • Experience starting or running a business and/or a passion for business, tech and startups
  • Experience gathering and interpreting trend data and company- and industry-level data, analyzing it, and writing about it for a business audience
  • Experience interviewing or collaborating with industry experts
  • An ability to deliver clean copy on a deadline
  • A basic understanding of SEO practices to generate organic search traffic for content
  • A basic understanding of accounting and finance
  • An adaptable, can-do spirit and excitement about helping people start and grow businesses
  • Imagination and critical thinking skills with an excitement for experimentation
  • A resourceful and self-directed approach to research and writing
  • An ability to move fast and balance multiple assignments at once
  • A willingness to make adjustments based on feedback and metrics

This job reports to our Senior Editorial Manager on HubSpot’s fast-growing media team, which includes The Hustle daily email, a podcast network with multiple shows ranked among the country’s top business podcasts, a new Hustle YouTube channel, and a set of business blogs that attract 10 million+ monthly visitors.

Our media team is made up of some of the country’s top journalists, including an Online News Award-winning writer, the author of two bestselling books, and writers who have optioned numerous stories for film and TV. You don’t need a background in journalism to succeed in this role, but you must have an understanding of business and tech and a passion for creating engaging and entertaining business content.


Cash compensation range: 85000-127000 USD Annually

The cash compensation above includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, all HubSpotters are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are based on a few different factors unique to each candidate, including their skills, experience, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
