What We Do:

Founded in 2015 as a fully remote company by former NSA cyber operators, Huntress was built on a simple premise: to force hackers to earn every inch of their access.

Today’s cyber-attacks aren’t limited to large organizations with the security tools that can ward off threats. Hackers don’t discriminate and will find a way to penetrate any vulnerability in any size business, which is why Huntress focuses on protecting those small to midsize businesses that make up the backbone of our economy.

Huntress stops hidden threats that sneak past preventive security tools by utilizing our award winning security platform and expert human threat hunters through dynamic products including Managed EDR and Managed Security Awareness Training.

Join the hunt and help us stop hackers in their tracks!

What You’ll Do:

The Huntress team is looking for a senior engineer who has experience writing software that interfaces with the Windows Operating System at a low level. This engineer will be responsible for developing applications that communicate from our customers’ Windows systems to our web portal to provide our threat operations team with critical threat-hunting information. In this role you will work within a cross-functional agile team to deliver complete features that span our Windows software and our web-based SaaS application.

Responsibilities:

  • Build features for a Windows application that interfaces with various low-level windows APIs on Windows to collect data and send it to our SaaS application
  • Integrate our endpoint application with our backend SaaS web application’s REST APIs for managing state and providing information that is used for threat hunting, paying particular attention to low resource usage on Windows hosts
  • Collaborate with QA and DevOps to use our end-to-end testing framework to test our agent and its interactions with our web portal

What You Bring To The Team:

  • 5+ years programming in either Go, C++/C/C#, or Ruby
  • 5+ years experience writing low-level software that interfaces tightly with the underlying operating system
  • 5+ years of experience developing software professionally
  • Experience with Windows internals
  • Experience with agile methodologies such as story writing, estimation, retrospectives, Kanban, or Scrum
  • Experience writing software in a distributed architecture
  • Able to communicate highly technical concepts clearly and concisely
  • Ability to coach or mentor junior engineers

What We Offer:

  • 100% remote work environment – since our founding in 2015
  • Generous paid time off policy including vacation, sick time, and paid holidays
  • 12 weeks paid parental leave
  • Highly competitive and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits plans
  • 401(k) with 5% contribution regardless of employee contribution
  • Life and Disability insurance plans

  • $75 USD/month digital reimbursement
  • Access to both Udemy and BetterUp platforms for coaching, personal, and professional growth

Huntress is committed to creating a culture of inclusivity where every single member of our team is valued, has a voice, and is empowered to come to work every day just as they are.

We do not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, veteran status, genetic information, marital status or any other legally protected status.

We do discriminate against hackers who try to exploit small businesses.

Funders for LGBTQ Issues

Job Posting: Grantmakers United for Trans Communities Project Director (Remote)

FLSA: Exempt (Full Time)

Location: Virtual

Industry: Philanthropy

ABOUT FUNDERS FOR LGBTQ ISSUES

Funders for LGBTQ Issues works to increase the scale and impact of philanthropic resources aimed at enhancing the well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer communities, promoting equity, and advancing racial, economic and gender justice. We are a network of funders committed to advancing equity and well-being for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, & queer (LGBTQ) communities.

We provide three essential services:

  1. Organize convenings and forums for LGBTQ funders to connect, coordinate their efforts, learn from each other, and maximize their impact.
  2. Provide training and support services for foundations to help them increase their LGBTQ inclusiveness in grantmaking and internal practices.
  3. Provide up-to-the-minute information, research, and resources on LGBTQ grantmaking to benefit funders and the broader LGBTQ movement.

Funders for LGBTQ Issues is unique in that the organization not only raises funds to support its work but also works to increase resources for the LGBTQ movement, particularly the most under-served communities within the LGBTQ movement, such as LGBTQ people of color, transgender communities, and women. Please visit www.lgbtfunders.org for more information on our work.

Overview of the Position

In response to long-standing under-funding of trans communities in the United States, Funders for LGBTQ Issues launched Grantmakers United for Trans Communities (GUTC) in 2017 – a significant initiative designed to increase the scale and impact of funding for transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary communities by shifting the culture of philanthropy to be inclusive and supportive of transgender people, and mainly centering BIPOC Trans GNC (TGNC) individuals.

The GUTC initiative has three main components:

  • A pledge campaign to raise trans awareness and cultural competency among funders and to galvanize them to action by taking specific steps to increase their funding of TGNC issues as well as their internal trans inclusiveness;
  • A fellowship program to support TGNC leaders working in institutional philanthropy to build the power of transgender people in this sector; and
  • Supporting organizing and collaborative projects among funder networks to provide a space for them to learn from one another and coordinate their efforts to increase funding for transgender communities.

The Grantmakers United for Trans Communities (GUTC) Project Director will play a leadership role in advancing all three components with the broader mission of helping to increase philanthropic support of transgender communities across the United States and its territories. The GUTC Project Director will also play a key role in Funders for LGBTQ Issues’ programs team, working in close collaboration with our Out in the South initiative and our other philanthropic organizing projects. They will also work closely with our research program to inform our research projects and our communications team and assist with development tasks as needed to support fundraising for the initiative.

  • Lead ongoing planning and development of GUTC’s mission and goals with key stakeholders invested in increasing the quality and quantity of foundation funding to transgender communities. These stakeholders include major foundation funders of trans communities and TGNC movement leaders.

  • We’re a remote-first, Series A VC-backed startup and currently ~35 team members, distributed across the Americas and Europe. Learn more about our team, company, and culture here.

  • Salary range for this role is $120-160k per annum (offer will be based on your seniority and geography)
  • We try to resemble what it would be like working together through the application process, while also allowing you to show your skills early in the process!

✨Take me to the application!

The Front-end Engineer role

Why we want to hire this role now

  • We started Chameleon after being frustrated at poor user onboarding and feeling required to speak with sales before we could start using new products.
    • As engineers, we want to solve the hardest problems and apply our creativity to design beautiful software. It’s tedious to build and maintain tooltips, banners, or checklists; we built Chameleon to let the product people handle that independently while letting engineers focus on the core value proposition a product provides.
    • Chameleon exists as a layer between our customers’ web applications and their users. This means that the software we build is for our thousands of customers and tens of millions of their end-users.
    • As we gain more customers, they require our software to handle more and growing use cases. The way web applications are built is changing rapidly; UX patterns are getting smarter; organizations are embracing the product-led movement.
  • As software becomes more self-serve, we will stay ahead of the curve to better enable software around the world.
    • Better handle the scale and volume of data we receive
    • Build out brand new products that help our customers more successfully engage their users
    • Continue to improve on-page performance while adding more complexity
    • Enhance the functionality and UX of the existing product to make it more accessible to brand-new customers and non-technical users
    • Build workflows to support larger teams (e.g. roles/permissions) and more usage (a team having hundreds of “campaigns” within Chameleon)

We are looking for a Front-end Engineer who thrives in a remote startup environment, is passionate about building great software, and enjoys a wide variety of problems.

You will be a key member of our engineering team, work closely with the other frontend engineers our CTO and enable us to improve our product velocity.

You will be primarily working closely with the Product team on our React web-app in a modern tech stack.

Key activities we expect you to be doing include:

  • Work on our customer dashboard building new UI/UX
  • Create, build and maintain reusable React components
  • Write testable well documented code
  • Make customer experience with Chameleon memorable and lovable
  • Support keeping our platform secure and reliable

Skills and experience that will aid success in this role

  • 4+ years working full-time as an engineer and 2+ years of React experience
  • Experience leading / collaborating with other engineers (Tuple)
  • Fluency with React / JS / HTML / CSS. Opinionated about the right way to JS.
  • Comfort and experience working with testing suites (Cypress, Jest)
  • Independent and self-motivated mindset; proactive in finding solutions while able to structure your own work with minimal management
  • Be able to provide guidance and answers the first time, see blind spots and complexity before it impacts the flow of work
  • Derives joy and pride from refactoring and improving important code.

Other requirements

  • You have a fully functioning workstation and a quiet place to work (and take calls) with a high-speed internet connection (we’ll send you a new M2 Macbook air with 16GB ram)
  • You are in an Americas timezone (EST, CST, MST, PST)
  • This is your full-time job (no other part-time roles)
  • Fluency (written and verbal) in English

Learn more about our team, culture, and vision on our company page.

<aside> 🌈 Chameleons are all different and uniquely beautiful. They change and aren’t required to associate or identify with any specific labels. We welcome the chance to get to know you and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team that consists of a variety of backgrounds, cultures, languages, experiences, preferences, and characteristics. That’s what helps us all grow and evolve.

The hiring process

Our hiring process is designed to give you a taste of working at Chameleon as a Senior Front-end Engineer, so you can reliably decide whether this is the perfect role for you or not!

Key milestones 🛣

  1. Fill out our application form below We try to make this process unique and transparent, so it won’t be tedious and robotic but will engage you in similar ways to the job. It will also mean that we can move quickly through the recruiting cycle if we are moving forward.
  2. First chatLet’s take this chance to get to know each other and introduce Chameleon. We will answer any questions you have about the company, the role or ways of working. Bring any and all questions!
  3. Take-home exercise This will be a technical exercise that we expect to take 1-2 hours in total. This will resemble the kind of work you will actually do, so it helps us all assess if this is a good fit.

This is a remote position.

  • Work with a cross functional team consisting of developers, designers and product managers to solve customer problems and deliver amazing software
  • Learn from technical leads and mentor intermediate and junior developers

  • Spend your “Growth  time” developing yourself as a software engineer and experimenting
  • Learn and apply new technologies to relentlessly drive yourself, and our platform, forward

What you’ll get to work with:

  • Version control – e.g. Git, Mercurial, SVN
  • Core web technologies – HTTP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Testing frameworks such as RSpec, Jest, Mocha
  • Modern front-end stacks – e.g. Webpack, Babel, Vue.js, React.js
  • Server technologies such as Node.js and Ruby on Rails
  • Relational Databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL
  • Experience architecting microservice infrastructures
  • Distributed computing concerns such as message queues and pub/sub

Dev Culture Highlights

We love our team culture at Vidyard, and work hard to make sure it stays strong. The only way to really understand it is to experience it, but we’ve compiled a few highlights for you below.

Slack

The Slack game at Vidyard is strong. With over 1,100 channels (and counting), you’re sure to find a like-minded community no matter what you’re interested in.

Some of our favourite channels include:

  • #adultyard — Adulting can be hard. What’s the best vacuum cleaner to buy? Is there a way to break my mortgage term early and pay lower fees? Is there anything I need to do to prepare my house before going away for a month? Find the answers you need here.
  • #catyard / #dogyard — Love dogs or cats? Want to see a picture of everyone’s fur babies every week and show off your own? These channels are for you.
  • #changeyard — A place to find and share cool volunteer opportunities and to impact change in your community with your peers!
  • #myyard — A place to join or connect with our Diversity & Inclusion committee. The committee’s mission statement is “leveraging a diverse and inclusive workforce to achieve superior business results through varied thoughts and comprehensive decision making.”
  • #dev — A channel (mostly) populated by our dev team, where the memes flow freely and little-to-no actual dev-related discussion occurs.
  • #musicianyard — Looking to share your passion for music or get a second opinion on which guitar to purchase? This channel has it all. From hacks for producing your own music to viral video sharing, you’ll find people to share in the excitement here!

Gaming

Most days at lunch, you’ll find at least one game happening in Discord. Current favourites among our devs include League, Minecraft, and Krunker.

DemoJam

Every two weeks, the dev team gets together over Zoom to show off what we’ve been working on and build hype among our peers (often in incredibly unique ways). It’s not out of the ordinary to see demos that include CGI, original song recordings with music videos, haikus, or reimagined children’s storybooks telling the tale of how a new feature came to be.

Hackathons

At least once a year, our engineering department splits into self-made teams and spends a week on a company hackathon. Some hackathons are innovative in nature, with many features from our hackathons having been incorporated into our product, and others are an opportunity for devs to dive into cool tech that they may not have had a chance to before.

Vidyard has successfully moved to a Remote First operating model. So, no matter where you are in the world, you will be an integral part of the team.

Hi, we’re CompanyCam.

We create simple-to-use, visual-first communication and accountability tools for contractors. Imagine a B2B SaaS (business-to-business software-as-a-service) app that doesn’t look like garbage, built by a team of capable, laid-back people.

But don’t let the chill throw you off; we’re a fast-growing, product-led startup with big plans for the future.

The Role

We’re looking for a sharp, self-motivated, problem-solving Senior React/React Native Developer to join our engineering team.

As a Senior React/React Native Developer, you’ll work alongside other engineers, designers, and product managers to tackle everything from huge company initiatives to modest but important bug fixes, from start to finish. You’ll also collaborate with your product team on discovery, helping to assess the direction and feasibility of product changes.

Most importantly, you’ll actively contribute to the evolution of the culture and processes of a growing engineering team, especially our client engineering discipline (this is what we call the devs who work in React and React Native). We want senior devs with experience effectively scaling codebases and iterating on processes as part of a growing team, and with an interest in mentoring to help our devs grow too.

Working At CompanyCam

Our engineering team is remote-first, spanning every time zone in the United States and Canada. We welcome people from all backgrounds and really don’t care whether or not you have a CS degree or even a high school diploma. All that matters is that you’re not an a**hole and you’re good at what you do.

Our Product and Engineering departments also do things a little differently than what you might be used to.

We use a customized version of Basecamp’s Shape Up method (fused with empowered product teams a la Marty Cagan’s Inspired) to organize and execute our work. That means you’ll work in a close-knit team consisting of a product manager, a product designer, and other engineers on an area of the product in multi-week cycles.

During cycles you’ll spend most of your time implementing product improvements, but you’ll also work with your team shaping (generating and vetting) product improvements for the next cycle. After each cycle your team will stop, reset, and choose to tackle another cycle or take a 1-3 week cool-down (a period of undirected work where you’ll pursue educational opportunities, work on pet projects, or smash some bugs that have been nagging at you). Rinse and repeat until code nirvana.

Wait, I think that cool-down thing deserves an extra call out: We build into our process 25% of an engineer’s time for undirected work.

Sounds nice, right? No sprinting, no scrumming, no death by 1,000 meetings. We protect our engineers’ time, treat them like adults, and trust them to get their work done. We’re also big on not overworking people. Put in your eight hours of focused, quality work and then TURN. SLACK. OFF. No nights and weekends.

Our larger company culture is also refreshingly chill. We have fun, learn from each other, and don’t take ourselves too seriously.

We cover the important stuff too. We pay well, offer unlimited vacationmeaningful equityhealth insurance, and other benefits. This is a salaried position at CompanyCam. The starting point of our salary band for mid-level engineers is $130,000. The top of our salary band for new Senior Engineers is $170,000.

What We Ask Of You

Must-haves
These are our non-negotiables:

  • Show up: give us your best and have the courage to do difficult but necessary stuff.
  • Grow up: take responsibility, learn continuously, and have a growth mindset.
  • Do good: treat your co-workers and customers the way you want to be treated.
  • Strong experience with and knowledge of React Native or native iOS or Android experience paired with strong React experience**.**
  • 4 or more years of experience working as a professional developer. (Not all years of experience are created equal, so this one isn’t set in stone.)
  • Reside permanently and currently somewhere in the U.S. or Canada. Alas, we’re not set up to hire outside of the U.S and Canada.

Nice-to-haves

Day to day, you’ll spend 90%+ of your time working in React and React Native, but, of course, that’s not all you’ll work with. While experience with the following technologies are not required (we’re cool with some on-the-job learning), you will see them with varying levels of frequency:

  • GraphQL & REST (often)
  • Apollo & Redux (often)
  • Android Studio & Xcode (mainly to run the mobile app)
  • Java & Objective-C (approaching rarely, but we do have some native modules)
  • Ruby on Rails (just a touch)

Ready to apply?

If you share our passion for serving our customers and bringing truth and transparency to the contracting industry, we’d love to review your application!

For any needed accommodations during the hiring process, please email courtney.albrecht@companycam.com.

We are not accepting applicants outside the U.S. and Canada at this time.
